Four ways to make your Mobile Device Secure.

The advancement in cellular technology means we are more unsafe than ever before. You are carrying a device that has all your information, from your personal passwords to pictures. You are being tracked via satellites and through apps. And people out there want that information, which is why many manufacturers are pushing out security updateon a monthly basis.

Here are top 4 Ways to Make Sure your New Mobile Device is Secure.

Just imagine what can happen if this personal information can fall into wrong hands. Let’s forget the sinister aspect of the problem. Let’s focus on how your mobile phone companies and apps sell your data to corporations – surely that ought to upset you.
But don’t worry, here is a series of steps you can take to ensure that your devices are secure.
Use passwords :
The most basic and first step is to use a pass code to lock your mobile phone. In case it is lost or stolen the other person won’t have instant access to it. It will keep you safe from some prowling friends and family members. After all, all your social media accounts are normally connected to your device, and we all know how damning access to social media accounts can be in some cases. This is the most basic step, and don’t think it is enough. We are just getting started.

Do not keep sensitive data stored in your phone.

The sad truth is that you should not store sensitive data on a device that is exclusively yours. In an ideal world this shouldn’t be the case but what can we do? Fortunately for you, there are hard drives and secure servers that can become the storage warehouse for you.
You can keep your pictures and other data but never anything that you cannot afford to lose, like work documents. Furthermore, do not use USB sticks for the same purpose. Always go for hard drives (external and if possible encrypted) or secure servers.

Be careful when downloading Apps.
It is recommended that you download apps only from the most trusted and secure sources. For example, Google Play store and Apple App store. These manufacturers of your phone’s operating system make sure that any app downloaded via their platform isn’t malicious. Even so, you should be careful about the access you are “agreeing” to give to a particular app.
Remember the emails and MSN files we use to get that’d hack our Hot mail ids, similarly, malicious apps are the fastest way to lose control of your smartphone.

Avoid accessing your work emails and important data on public Wi-Fi
You should avoid accessing your personal and important data when your smart phone is hooked to a public network. This includes hotels, airports, coffee shops and bars etc. More often than not, these networks are unsecured and hackers are looking to get sensitive information off of people who access them.
Consider using VPN and other secure options for email and other applications.
